Knowle joint-manager Matt Seeley reckons his heart rate reached 205 during the penalty area pinball before substitute Tom Kinsey scored a stoppage-time equaliser to force an FA Cup replay at higher-tier Worcester City.
It looked as though Knowle were heading out when Liam Lockett fired Worcester ahead against the run of play as his cheeky back-heeled finish found the corner with 20 minutes left of the game.
But Knowle huffed and puffed despite the set-back and Kinsey bundled home in the 91st minute following pinball in the penalty area to cap a frenetic First Round Qualifying tie that was live on the BBC.
Recollecting his thoughts during the drama that led to Kinsey’s goal, Matt Seeley said: “I was in such a blur! It was like a pinball, bouncing all over the place and I was thinking ‘Has it gone in, has it gone, has it gone over?’ My heart rate must have gone up to about 205, I’m halfway down the line, then it eventually goes in and I’m in the corner!
“I didn’t get to see the eruptions in the stand, which I would love to have seen, but I’m really looking forward to watching it all back. Amazing day.”
Clive Seeley, Matt’s uncle and partner-in-crime, felt immensely proud of the pair's players for the way they reacted to falling behind.
“When we went 1-0 down, the lads just gave their all and they carried on to the very end. They never fail to surprise us," he said.
The vast majority of the record 931 supporters at The Robins’ Nest - a number more than double their highest attendance previously - will have been impressed with what they saw from Knowle.
Clive Seeley hopes the new faces are inspired to come again.
“We’ve obviously done nothing yet, but it’s great for the club to get a replay at their place. This place is buzzing and the publicity we’ve got from today is great,” he said. "Hopefully some of these will return.”
The Robins travel to Worcester’s Sixways Stadium for the replay at 7:45pm on Tuesday, September 8.
